Introduction: Why Communism Must Be Rethought Through Cyber-Mat More than three decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Communism remains one of the most misunderstood political experiments in human history. To some it represents the greatest attempt to establish social justice ever undertaken; to others it remains synonymous with dictatorship, inefficiency and economic failure. Yet both supporters and opponents often make the same mistake. They continue to judge twentieth-century Communism as though it were the final version of dialectical materialism instead of recognising it as only one historical implementation of a much older and far broader philosophy. If scientific theories evolve, political theories must evolve as well. Newtonian mechanics did not disappear after Einstein, nor did classical genetics become useless after molecular biology.
